Nitric oxide (NO) mediates the vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) in the penis, increasing blood flow. Let’s break that down a bit further. Nitric oxide tells specific muscles in the penis to relax. The relaxation of those muscles allows blood flow to increase to the erectile tissues of the penis, causing the penis to enlarge and grow rigid, forming an erection.
Shake the oral suspension (liquid) before you measure a dose. Use the dosing syringe provided, or use a medicine dose-measuring device (not a kitchen spoon).

Currently, four types of oral ED medications are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat ED in men: sildenafil (Viagra)tadalafil (Cialis)vardenafil (Levitra)avanafil (Stendra)
Several medications are not recommended for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. These include trazadone, yohimbine, and herbal therapies, as there is no evidence to support their safe use for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. It is important to note that testosterone therapy is not indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in the patient with a normal serum testosterone level.
Erectile dysfunction tablets are typically safe to use both in the short term and long term. The results of a study looking at men using sildenafil over the course of four years suggest that it’s safe and effective when used over a prolonged period of time. Likewise, another study involving 1173 men with ED concluded that tadalafil was “safe and well tolerated” when used for the duration of the study, which lasted for two years. In general, if you find yourself taking sildenafil - or any other ED treatment - for a prolonged period of time, it’s worth looking at the underlying causes (with the help of your doctor). There’s also plenty of information on the possible root causes of ED in our Book of Erections.

The Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial was a landmark study by Thompson et al that prospectively assessed the time to developing CVD after the diagnosis of ED. There were 4247 men with no ED at study entry; 2420 developed incident ED (defined as the first report of ED of any grade) over 5 years. Those men that developed ED had a 1.45-fold higher probability of experiencing a CV event compared with men who did not develop ED.27
It affects approximately half of all men over age 40 While erectile dysfunction is usually a physical problem, it can also have psychological roots. More often than not, it is a combination of both. And help is available. “We have a treatment for everyone,” says Stanton Honig, MD, a director of the Yale Medicine Male Reproductive Health Program. “It's just a matter of what option you choose.”
Finally, there are NO-releasing polymers that are capable of delivering NO in a pharmacologically useful way. Such compounds include compounds that release NO upon being metabolised and compounds that release NO spontaneously in aqueous solution. Initial animal studies suggest that cavernosal injections of NO polymers can significantly improve erectile function.48

Erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence or ED, is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse. Almost all cases of erectile dysfunction are treatable, says Dr. Honig.
In a 2014 pilot study, 31 men between the ages of 20 and 55 years old, who were newly diagnosed with erectile dysfunction, received either tadalafil (a medication used to treat impotence) for a five-month period or tadalafil and an eight-week stress management program. Both groups showed statistical significant improvement, but researchers found that the men practicing stress management showed a significant reduction in perceived stress scores and lower daily cortisol levels compared to the men who only received medication.
